I used to read a lot of webcomics but not so much anymore I got too busy to keep up on all of them! Here are the ones that I still check regularly:

Lackadaisy - the roaring twenties! prohibition! speakeasies! gangsters! period slang! hilarity! gorgeous artwork! sepia tones! also everyone is cats! it’s awesome!

Hemlock - this comic is set in Scandinavia in what I believe is the 18th or 19th century. It’s about a witch who lives in a giant snail. The plot is intriguing, but even if it wasn’t I would read it for the artwork alone.

Parakeet Jones - a fantasy comic set in the twenties. There’s not a lot up yet (it was recently rebooted) but this is another comic that’s worth reading for the artwork alone. The person who draws this is one of my favorite artists, and I could seriously just stare at those pages all day.

Oglaf - This is the best porn comic on the web, all the other porn comics can go home now. I love this because it’s not JUST porn, it’s a legitimately hilarious comic that pokes fun at the fantasy genre.

Hark! A Vagrant - well, DUH, but I’m including this just in case there are a few poor miserable folks out there who have never heard of Kate Beaton, and also because the latest comic is a Nancy Drew one and I fucking love the Nancy Drew ones.

Freakangels - A full story about twelve people with psychic powers set in a post-apocalyptic London. It’s one of the best web comics out there and (sadly) was finished a few days ago.

Spera - A fantasy comic about the adventures of two princesses, Pira and Lono, and a fire spirit named Yonder. The story of Spera was written by Josh Tierney, while the comic is a collaboration between artists from around the world.

Rice Boy - Rice Boy is one of the most amazing stories I’ve ever read. It’s visually incredible and the most elaborate worldbuilding I’ve ever seen in a webcomic. All three of Evan Dahm’s comics (Rice Boy, Order of Tales, and Vattu) are entirely different fantasy stories though they are built upon each other.

Darwin Carmichael is Going to Hell - This comic is set in a world where karma is both spiritually and economically valuable and mythological beings walk the streets casually. It’s hilarious, well drawn, and has a talking manticore named Skittles. Read it.

Gunnerkrigg Court - One of the strangest comics out there, Gunnerkrigg Court is a sci-fi-fantasy-mythology-modern-day mash up. Like RiceBoy, it is one of the better written “story comics” out there and is definitely worth baring with the art style change.

Johnny Wander - My personal favorite when it comes to journal-comics.

RubyQuest - A traditional text/comic forum game that is now complied into a series of flashes, Ruby Quest starts out as a simple “escape the room” type comic but quickly becomes an engaging and heart-pounding horror story. Drawn in MsPaint style and has both psychological horror and gore, it is intelligent, terrifying, and beautiful.

Guilded Age - A hilarious and well drawn story about the adventures of a team of fantasy characters. Very nerdy and my favorite comic of the fantasy RPG genre.

Space Trawler - Space Trawler is about a team of space rebels who attempt to free a race of aliens from slavery. Amazing story, great characters, and extremely funny to boot.

The Abominable Charles Cristopher - A series of one-shot comics about the humorous lives of forest animals. There is an over-arcing story about a sasquatch named Charles Cristopher but it does not make up the majority of the comic. The jokes and story-telling are much in the style of Calvin and Hobbes.

Ghosts of Tiny Animals - Even though this comic has just begun, I am posting it here because I think it has the potential to become something amazing (who am I kidding it’s already amazing just look at the art <3 *swoons ) Definitely worth checking up on.

The Less than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal
On-going Road trip story about two guys coming from completely different backgrounds, on a journey that starts off relaxed, but becomes complicated with an unexpected bond. Amal, recently calling off his arranged marriage and getting partly disowned after coming out to his conservative parents, joins TJ who claims that he met Amal and together made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence, agreeing that Amal does the driving and TJ pays for everything.
